Unauthorized Erection of Advertisement Signs/Billboards

The Development Control Authority observes with concern, that persons have been erecting advertisements which includes signs and billboards without permission as required by law.  These advertisement signs/billboards are erected at such locations and in such numbers as to detract from the amenity of certain areas, and in some areas resembles the onset of urban blight.

 

Pursuant to Section 36 (1) of the Physical Planning and Development Act No. 29 of 2001, persons who are desirous of displaying advertisement signs/billboards on any building or land are required to first obtain the written permission of the Development Control Authority.

 

Consequently, notice is hereby given to all persons who have erected signs/billboards without obtaining permission from the Development Control Authority, to remove them no later than 31st January, 2010.

 

Failure to comply with this Notice will result in necessary action by the Development Control Authority.
