CABINET APPROVES TAX AMNESTY

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the implementation of the Tax Amnesty announced by the Governor General in the Throne Speech at the opening of the new session of Parliament earlier this year.

The amnesty will encompass the areas of Income Tax, Corporation Tax and Pay–as- you- Earn (PAYE).  The amnesty period is effective from February 01^st ,  2012 to January 31^st, 2013.

Consistent with the undertakings given in the just concluded General Election Campaign by the Saint Lucia Labour Party, this amnesty will go one step further by waiving during the amnesty period not only penalties but also interest on outstanding tax liabilities.

Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Honourable Dr. Kenny D. Anthony will provide further details of the amnesty sometime next week.
